Airmoto vs Fanttik X8 Apex
These are the two most heavily advertised pocket inflators on the internet, and on our bench one of them wins on every measurement that matters. The Fanttik X8 Apex filled our reference 205/55R16 in 3:55 to the Airmoto's 4:35, held its gauge to ±1.0 PSI against the Airmoto's ±2.0, delivered seven tires per charge to the Airmoto's four, ran 8 dB quieter, and is built from machined metal rather than moulded plastic — at a similar price. Buy the Fanttik. The Airmoto is not a bad pump and it is not a scam; it is simply the second-best version of the same idea, and the gap is not close enough to be a matter of taste.

Speed: forty seconds per tire
Our standard test is three timed fills from 28 to 36 PSI on the same mounted 205/55R16, median published. The Fanttik returned 3:55, the Airmoto 4:35. Forty seconds is 17% and it compounds: across four tires that is nearly three minutes of extra standing around, and because both pumps need a cooling pause between tires, the Airmoto's longer run also means a longer rest. Neither is quick against a plug-in compressor — a Viair 88P does the same fill in 1:38 — but within self-contained pumps the Fanttik is the fastest we have timed and the Airmoto sits mid-table, ahead of the Avid Power at 4:50.
The pressure ceilings differ too: 150 PSI on the Fanttik, 120 on the Airmoto. For car and motorcycle work that is academic — nothing on four wheels needs more than about 80 — but it does mean the Fanttik will take a 700×25c road tire to 100 PSI, in 1:50, and the Airmoto is not the tool for that job.
Accuracy: the difference that actually costs you
We check every built-in gauge against a calibrated digital reference at 20, 32 and 50 PSI and publish the worst-case deviation. The Fanttik came in at ±1.0 PSI; the Airmoto at ±2.0. Two PSI does not sound serious until you remember what the auto-stop is for. Set 36 on the Airmoto and you may get 34 or 38, and you will not know which unless you check with a separate gauge — at which point the preset has bought you nothing. The Fanttik's error is small enough and its run-to-run repeatability tight enough that we trust it unattended.
Neither is anywhere near our worst result — the Hausbell reads four PSI high and wanders two PSI between runs — but neither matches the ±0.5 PSI class of the AstroAI and Milwaukee units. Build, noise and heat
The Fanttik's machined aluminium shell is the most obvious hardware difference. The Airmoto's plastic body is lighter by 0.1 lb, which nobody will notice, and less able to shed heat, which everybody will: after two consecutive car tires the Airmoto needs a longer rest than the Fanttik does, and both need one. Small high-pressure pumps are thermally limited by design, as PSI, CFM and duty cycle explains — the housing material decides how quickly they recover.
Noise measured 70 dB for the Fanttik and 78 dB for the Airmoto at one meter. Eight dB is a large gap in perceived loudness, and over a four-and-a-half-minute fill in an attached garage it is the difference between background noise and a conversation stopper. The Fanttik is quieter than everything on our bench except the 50 PSI Kensun.
Battery and value
Run full to empty, counting only complete 28→36 PSI top-ups, the Fanttik gave seven tires and the Airmoto four. For anyone who keeps a pump in a car and charges it rarely, seven is a full set with reserve; four is a full set with nothing left for the spare. Both charge over USB-C, and both use sealed cells you cannot replace, so both are five-year tools rather than lifetime ones.
Because the two sell for similar money, value follows performance. The Airmoto's marketing spend is real and its product is ordinary; the Fanttik's is quieter in both senses. Both are ranked in best built-in battery inflators, and the Fanttik also appears in best cordless inflators. Questions we get asked
Is the Airmoto a scam?
No. It inflates tires, the auto-stop works, and it survived our testing without failure. It is simply slower and less accurate than the Fanttik X8 Apex at a similar price, which makes it the weaker buy rather than a bad product.
Can either pump inflate a bike tire to 100 PSI?
The Fanttik X8 Apex can, in 1:50 on a 700x25c Presta road tire. The Airmoto tops out at 120 PSI and is not built for road-tire work, so it is the wrong tool for a cyclist.
How many tires can each fill on one charge?
Counting complete 28 to 36 PSI top-ups from a full charge, we measured seven tires for the Fanttik X8 Apex and four for the Airmoto.
